University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) signs the Memorandum of Understanding with Sichuan University

On January 14, 2019, Lisa Montoya, Vice President of the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), Professor Xiaohe Xu, and Professor Wanxiang Yao visited our school and exchanged views on further cooperation with the West China School of Public Health. Professor Li Xiaosong, the dean of our school, Professor Pei Xiaofang and Professor Pan Jie, the vice deans, attended the meeting in the morning.

 

At the meeting, Dean Li Xiaosong welcomed the presence of Vice President Lisa Montoya and his colleges, and made a brief introduction to the school's school scale, scientific research, talent training, international exchanges and cooperation. He reviewed the overseas training programs in the United States in our school, which is the foundation for the further cooperation with each other. At the meeting, all participants exchanged views on the further in-depth cooperation.

Professor Yan Shijing, Vice President of Sichuan University, met with Lisa Montoya and his colleges at the administrative building of Wangjiang Campus, and discussed further cooperation. Vice President Yan Shijing signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Texas at San Antonio on behalf of our school.

At 3 pm on the same day, Professor Xiaohe Xu was invited to conduct a lecture entitled " Financial Strain and Intimate Partner Violence in Post-reform China: Evidence from Chengdu". Professor Pei Xiaofang, the vice dean of our school, chaired the lecture. At the report, Professor Xu briefly introduced his research on the economic pressure and intimate partner violence in China after the reform, and shared the theoretical basis and methodologies in his research. The teachers and students had a hot discussion on the cultural differences and current status of the North and South families in China. After systematically explaining the research, Professor Xu established the framework of thesis writing for the teachers and students present. On the basis of this example, Professor Xu explained in detail how to publish a paper in peer-reviewed journals. He taught the key steps and important skills in English writing. He also shared his English paper publishing experience, his gain and loss on the academic road and personal academic pursuit from an international perspective. In the lecture of Professor Xu, the teachers and students had a pleasant and fruitful afternoon.
